Campo Ron Punch

>Hola!
~Welcome to the Spanish edition of Supermarket Cocktails. Having taken a well earned break in the Spanish Campo it seemed only right to check out the Supermarkets and shake something up!!!

So we headed over to Mercadona an excellent supermarket with plentiful Cocktail stocks. We picked up some own brand Ron Miel or Honey Rum, a liquer traditionally produced on the Canary Islands. If you get a chance to sample this please do it's delicious especially Ron Miel Indias or Guajiro Ron Miel. Our honey rum wasn't quite that standard but rather Mercadona's 5 Euro special!

As well as this we picked up some still strawberry juice and cloudy lemonade (from Lidl) And to complete our ingredients list we picked a fresh lemon from the local area and there we have our elements to make magic with!!

The whole week we were in Spain was iceless! and by this I mean there wasn't an ice cube in sight so we had to improvise with some lolly ice moulds. We poured some of the Juice and lemonade into them and used this as ice.

Reviews of the cocktail were mixed. My madre claimed it reminded her of Sangria. The wife found it refreshing like a refresher. I personally found it sweet and sticky like a good holiday romance. All in all it's very drinkable and dare we say a little dangerous!

Salut!!

Alpha Tango Whisky

And so it begins...

The first supermarket cocktail in our collection is the Alpha Tango Whisky. Brought about primarily due to the proverbial bottle of Bells but also because they had apple Tango on offer in Tesco. This cocktail reeks of sophistication and takes it's name from what I like to call 'The Bill' alphabet.

Was it a success??? Well this depends on your taste buds, to my own the musky urine flavour of Bells still overpowers. However my wife loved it, commenting;

"It defiantly fizzes and not just in the fact that it's sparkling. The Bell's drifts in and out...sort of around while the apple gets on your tongue...so you get all the nice:...well you get the prolonged aftertaste of whisky but without the hamster-face sensation usual with bells. The sweet and sour apple gives a sort of soda-ry taste to the whisky. So basically your cheeks breathe with the whisky and the apple sits in the middle..."
So there you go, yours to devour. Please drink responsibly as Bell's has a reputation for tearing families apart!
